[Divine Souls:4085] HH Discourse at Kirti Nagar - Taken from www.nirankari.org

SATSANG PROGRAMME IN THE DIVINE PRESENCE OF HIS HOLINESS BABA HARDEV
SINGH JI MAHARAJ
AT

Guru Teg Bahadur Park, Shani Markit, Main Road, Kirti Nagar, Delhi:
July 22, 2009

Blessing a congregation on July 22, 2009 at Kirti Nagar, Delhi His
Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj stated;

"It is after a very long time that I am getting a chance to attend a
congregation here at Kirti Nagar. Sitting together all of you have
created an atmosphere of peace and harmony. Such feelings as
expressed in words are as comforting as cool water. Devotees always
look forward to hear such words, which give peace and solace and
inspire towards devotion and true direction in the hum-drum of worldly
life. Such words give strength to staggering feet and help move
towards true direction by giving true thinking. While living in the
world man's thinking has become such as has deprived him of bliss and
peace in life; a restless man spreads only restlessness in the
world. Saints here are giving a message to spread an atmosphere of
peace and harmony by establishing this Supreme Power, this Formless in
the heart, by attaining its Realization and living life while imbibing
a Vision based upon it; by living in such a manner saints attain peace
and bliss themselves as well as give the same to others.

In every age saints have told the path to attain bliss, the way to
live truly, the words which have significance, the reason why these
eyes are important, why this body and mind are important and how can
their value be realized in life. As the Honorable MLA of the area
pointed out in his words that all the Vedas, Shastras and religious
scriptures are universal in their message to man in which they tell
man the way in which he should live his life and deal; what is the
significance of this human life. Whether we read the words of Lord
Rama or Lord Jesus Christ or Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji or Kabir Ji or
Ravidas Ji or Tukaram Ji or Meerabai or innumerable others saints who
incarnated upon earth from time to time, they are universal in their
opinion about the aspects which are significant for life; to live with
love, to not to hurt the other, to not to commit atrocity upon the
other, to live life while rising above greed and avarice, to live life
selflessly, to speak sweet instead of bitter words, to speak true
words, to strengthen relationships with sweetness, to not to
discriminate, to bring down the walls of high and low, to rise above
religious fanaticism. The views of Hazrat Mohammad are not different
from that of Lord Jesus Christ as far as such feelings, a few of which
were stated, are concerned. Both ask man to love, to help each other,
to not to cause pain and anguish to the other; Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji
also gives the same teaching; Kabir Ji too, speaks of similar feelings
in his words. In other words, all the saints, sages, Gurus and
prophets have considered significant such feelings and thoughts which
make life beautiful and have inspired man to move in their direction.

Even today saints are giving a similar message, reminding man of the
lesson and teachings which saints taught and also telling him that
mere reading and hearing their teachings will not help. Since our
childhood we have heard this example that thirst does not get removed
by mere mention of water; similarly water's mention can also not
remove dirt from the body; repetition of 'water' and 'soap' can not
clean dirty clothes; mention of 'food' will not give strength to the
body! 'Khand Hi Ka naam Let Mukh Kaise Meetha Hot, Mukh Punni Meetha
Hot Khand Key Chabaan Sey' – that mere repetition of 'sugar' will
neither sweeten the tongue nor the cup of milk that one is drinking;
one has to put it in one's mouth. Similarly the lofty teachings and
words which saints spoke were not meant only to be recited and
repeated; their significance lies in adopting them. The difference
between these words and the innumerable other words which are spoken
in the world is that man can attain true benefit from saints' words
when he gives them significance and imbibes them in his life. When
man repeats the words ' do not hurt others' feelings' and yet goes on
hurting others' feelings, he is only repeating the words! Similarly
man also recites words as 'service' and 'selfless living' and yet his
life shows that he snatches what rightfully belongs to others, what to
speak of serving others selflessly!

In every age saints' words have inspired man in this direction. And
all of us also know how much man has valued their words! Had he
valued their words, there would have been no riots and arson and
looting, no violence and tension in the atmosphere; man would not have
created such circumstances as give tension within home and society
while he vocally glorifies Lord Rama and other saints, sages, Gurus
and prophets! Had he put into practice their holy words, would there
be such an atmosphere prevalent, would there be any need to go for
justice in courtrooms! Indeed not!

Majority of the people in the world consider themselves religious,
that they have faith in saints, sages, Gurus and prophets, that they
read their words, that they bow in reverence to them. Despite the
majority of those in the world who are believers as compared to non-
believers, the atmosphere of the world is still such where man kills
the other even in the name of Rama and Allah; where small children are
burnt alive! So where does man give significance to love in life?
There is only hatred; there are seeds of hatred in his mind which
produce a thorny plant that only pierces! Such is the state of man
today.

There is no dearth of religious places; every street, every colony has
a number of them at every short distance! But what is needed is, as a
line which I often repeated earlier, that if you want to worship, you
have to become a temple yourself; true worship will be when you will
become a temple yourself! Man can become a temple himself when his
feelings, thinking and life become true; only then can a man be a
true worshiper. Unless man becomes a temple himself, he can not be
considered a true worshiper. On one side man glorifies God in loud
proclamations while bowing his head in a specific religious place and
yet takes no time to start talking nonsense and ill about others and
maligning them the moment he leaves that place! Such is the state of
man which we see everyday everywhere!

So saints drew everyones' attention in the congregation towards
adopting in life the words of saints, sages, Gurus and prophets; to
mould their feelings, thoughts and life according to them; so that
they may become truly happy. Otherwise, there are many who celebrate
and feel happy at others' mourning and lamentation! When a man heard
the sound of much loud laughter from his neighbor's home, he went in
to know what was the cause of so much merriment in their house. When
he asked, the man of the house told the neighbor that the loud
laughter which he hears comes sometimes from his wife when she throws
a shoe at him and at other times from him when the shoe does not hit
him! So this is how man feels happy today! But saints ask man to
make his life truly happy with spiritual bliss, mental peace,
sweetness of relationships, purity and sublimity; to experience true
happiness as well as love. There is an English saying, 'we need
peace, living peace, not the peace of graves'. So the peace in a
graveyard where there is no noise, sound, where no one speaks, is not
the peace we want; we do not want peace of the graves, we want living
peace. In other words those who are living should establish peace by
living in peace themselves as well as giving an atmosphere of peace to
others. So saints are giving message of 'living peace' to every man;
so that man may understand that the way he is living his life has
created such circumstances that there is darkness all around, the face
of the whole of mankind is getting tarnished because of him; so that
man pays attention towards this side and mends his ways; so that man
makes such a contribution in which lies his welfare and which also
gives true direction to others by strengthening their staggering feet,
by giving them true thinking.

May God bless so that the number of those who make such a contribution
continues increasing. Devotees pray this Supreme Lord to bless them
so that they live their life while imbibed with the illumination of
true feelings; so that they imbibe saintly thinking, as is said, 'Mann
Neevan Matt Uchchi' – so saints are humble despite their lofty
thinking. It is not the non-believers narrow-minded, the greedy, the
un-illumined, but the saints who have a lofty thinking. May the
devotees continue being humble while imbibing lofty thinking and thus
live a beautiful life and create a beautiful atmosphere.

Saints feel pained at the negative atmosphere prevalent in the world,
at the diminishing values of human life whereas the un-illumined feel
happy and celebrate them! The much talked about solar eclipse which
happened today, drew everyone's attention; many also made an effort to
see this nature phenomenon from a place from where it could be seen
the best; a few years ago I happened to be in Scotland during another
such eclipse, people there had created a festive atmosphere to enjoy
the eclipse at a place from where it could be seen the best. So man
shows much interest and also happiness at many such natural
occurrences. The same eclipse also made me think that man's thinking
is also getting eclipsed, the light is changing into darkness and yet
man is rejoicing; in other words, man's thinking is such that he
celebrates even when humanity gets harmed! But saints and devotees
feel pained at it. A devotee looks upon others' loss as his loss;
that is why he feels pained; 'Dukh Tera Ho Ya Mera Ho Dukh Ki
Paribhasha Eik Hai, Annsoo Tere Ho Ya Mere Ho Aansoo Ki Bhasha Eik
Hai'. So saints and devotees can not see others' pain and loss. But
the un-illumined, those who call themselves religious and yet do not
know the meaning of religion, think they will attain heaven and become
nearest to God by killing and harming others! Such are the beliefs
of man today; such is his wayward thinking which is miles away from
Truth! Imbibed with such a thinking man lives filled with bitterness
and hard-heartedness. But saints and dvotees live with compassion and
kindness. A saint has said, 'Parhit Laag Taje Jo Dehi Santiye Sant
Prashansiye Tehi' – that saints praise those who offer their all and
themselves for others' welfare, such ones are also praised by God.
While those who live contrary to it are condemned. 'Jor Kiya Sau
Julam Hai Kehta Nau Halal, Daftar Lekha Mangiye Tab Hoyega Kaun
Hawaal', 'Paapi Karam Kamanvde Karde Haye Haye, Jyon Mathey Madhanian
Tyon Mathey Dharam Raye' – this is what is awaiting such ones; they do
not know what they will have to face in the Court of God; right now
they can not even imagine it! That is why saints warn such ones to
Know this Truth while they still have time; to know what are the
teachings of saints and in which direction are they pointing; to know
what should be their thinking while they live their life, how should
they deal with others. They should live with love and humility and
thus give beauty to the atmosphere. May God bless so that all live
their life imbibed with such feelings and thinking."
