Ankur Ji, I remember Baba Ji answering this question in one of the Gurudev Hardev books.
A devotee asked Baba Ji if there is such a concept as kismat (destiny) or whether we shape our own future.
I don't remember what Baba Ji said word for word but what I do remember is that the devotee who asked the question, needed further clarification to capture the crux of what Baba Ji was trying to say.
From what I remember, Baba Ji said that there are some things which are written for us but how we reach there is up to us. For instance, if it is our destiny to get a certain job, there are several paths which could lead to us getting that job. ie. We could achieve the highest test score out of all the interviewees, we may come across as the most sincere or the interviewer could like our mode of dress the best.
My humble opinion is that the focus should be in our quality of life as opposed to what we may be destined for. Our clothes, house and car are not as significant as the way we live our life and the hearts we touch and inspire around us.
Ultimately, I agree with Sanjay Ji that Satguru/Nirankar can shape our destiny with the blink of an eye so we have nothing to fear and instead we should dedicate ourselves to serving God and His creation, all of mankind if we are to shape a favourable destiny and achieve the purpose of our existence.
Humbly,
Lucky
