Just as the love of a red legged partridge (chakor) for the moon is proverbial;

Just as the love of the black bee (Bhanwra) for the flower is proverbial.

 Just as the black bee (Patanga) has love for the lighted lamp;

Similar is the love of the devoted disciple for the holy feet of the True Master.

Just as the fish cannot do without water even for a moment;

Likewise, the disciple cannot detract his mind from the True Master.

Just as the sparrow hawk (Papiha) craves for the single drop of rain water known as Swati;

Likewise, the disciple yearns to have a single glimpse of the True Master.

Just as the colour of colour of Henna (mehandi) does not fade throughout life;

Avter Says, likewise, the disciple cannot stay away from the True Master.

Dunia Te mashhoor muhabbat, jiddan phull te bhaur di ey.

Balde deepak nal preeti, jiddan hai parwane di;

Gur charanan de nal preeti edan sikh diwane di.

Machhali jiddan pani noon. ik pal de layee na chhod sake;

Gursikh edan man apne noon, gur vallon na mod sake;

Rahe piasa jivan papiha, iko boond swati layee;

Gursikh di akh rahe tarsdi Satgur di ik jhati layee.

Mehndi jiddan umran teekar rang na apna chadd sake;
